New filing deadline for company accounts

New filing deadline for company accounts

NEWSFLASH: Automatic extension of Companies House deadlines

At the end of June, the Corporate Insolvency and Governance Act came into force, and this brought about a temporary set of relaxations of certain requirements for Companies House filings.

For any company or LLP with accounts that were due to be filed between 27 June 2020 and 5 April 2021, there is an automatic extension of the filing your company accounts.

For private companies, this takes the deadline from 9 months to 12 months after your year-end date. The information on the Companies House website will be updated to reflect these deadlines.

For our clients at Cloud 360 Accounting, whilst we welcome these changes for small businesses who may need the extra time, our thoughts on this are a little different.

Taking longer to produce your annual accounts is of no benefit to any business. In fact it’s even more vital in the current climate to get your figures produced quickly.

We won’t be updating our client database or workflow system to change the filing period and statutory deadlines. We will continue to produce annual accounts within a maximum of 3 months from your year-end date.

Embrace cloud accounting, put a dedicated finance team in place for your business. As the business owner, get regular updates on the business finance and results whilst focusing your time on customer care, client relationships and marketing your business.
